Empowerment: How to empower Teachers and learners

Dean Shareski said …”when it transforms the way we learn, offers us new unchartered
experiences and opportunities…”

When we are:
  • Learner centred
  • Future focused
  • Differentiated
  • Personalised                         … the default is VISIBLE

Personal experience:
I wrote my Google Test today. It was certainly not a walk in the park and reflecting back I should
have spent more time preparing.

It was good to put everything I have learned the past 8 weeks into practice, I only now realise
the hard work our presenters had to keep me up to speed.

Thank you for all the support.

Exploring Examples of Class Sites

Observations From Exploring

Class Sites

NB: We are evaluating our peers sites through TWO lenses: Engagement and User experience.  On the one
hand the site needs to be inviting/appealing -draw you to it.  On the other hand it is a working/learning
environment and it needs to be very easy to use.  Effective sites combine both elements.

Connected

Connectivity is a way of life for our students.

Take it from them and they will check out.

When I think about creating something for my learners or I am asked to do something differently I
like to start with the why.

Making your own site:

What is the purpose?

What is your theme?
How are they accessing the site?
Why are they using the site?

Planning your class site

How many pages do you need?
What will be linked off your home page?

What is the layout of each page?
